The Nail Junkie: Fairy and Mermaid
Hi everyone, I hope the week has been treating you well. Today I have two indie polishes that I won in a giveaway. I couldn't wait to share the glittery awesomeness so I swatched them right away. The nail polish that I received is from Aleta at The Nail Junkie, who can be found on etsy. I got to chose two polishes from her newest collection as my prize and I was so impressed by the quality of the polish.Fairy
First up is Fairy, which Aleta describes as a glitter topcoat with silver hex glitter, pink and purple stars, and a dash of holographic micro glitter. Below I have one coat of Fairy over OPI Plugged-in Plum with one coat of topcoat. I wore this yesterday and had no problems with chipping or anything like that. I didn't have to dig for glitter, I just swiped it on like a normal cream polish. I had to place a few of the stars but it wasn't a big deal for me. My photos don't show the shiny quality of this polish but the holographic glitter is really a standout in this polish. I'm excited to try it over a pale color as well.Mermaid
The second polish I chose was Mermaid. With a name like that, how could I pass it up? I loved everything having to do with mermaids as a kid! Mermaid is described as an oceanic micro glitter polish made of turquoise, sea foam green and white iridescent micro glitters. Aleta also says that this polish would work well as a glitter topcoat but could also be worn by itself.I chose to layer this polish over a minty color Maybelline Color Show Green With Envy. Photos below are one coat of Mermaid with no topcoat. The formula on this polish is a tad on the thick side, but I think this helped with creating a uniform layer on the nail. One of my pet peeves is when a polish has too much base and not enough glitter so you end up with so much clear polish that never dries. This polish did not have this problem at all. I didn't place glitter or move it around, I just painted it on. It also dried fairly quickly as well. My photos are a little on the dark side but I wanted the glitter to be as color accurate as possible. After I swatched this polish, I switched it up and layered it over China Glaze Too Yacht to Handle and that's what I'm sporting today.
Overall these are some of the best glitter polishes that I've used. Glitter payoff was spot on and I didn't have any problems with either of them. I want to thank Aleta for these polishes, she has a really great brand.
These polishes can be found on The Nail Junkie's page on etsy, which can be found here. I am unsure of the exact size of the bottles but they are quite large and have a lot of polish. They sell for $10 but are well worth it in my opinion.
