Nail Art Dotting Tools – What Are They & How Do To Use Them.

What are Nail Art Dotting Tools? What are they for? and How do I use one?

Time to explore some of the tools of the professional nail artist trade. In this article we're going to look at one of my favourite nail art tools the humble but powerful Dotting Tool.
Our New 'Posh' Range of Nail Art Dotting Tools.

Dotting Tools. Nice To Have or Essential Nail Art Kit?

Nail Art Dotting Tools are considered an essential nail art design tool used by nail technicians and professional nail artists to easily create and apply colour dots and patterns in nail art design using nail polish, shellac, gels and acrylic nail art paints.

What are Nail Art Dotting Tools?

Dotting tools are most similar to a pen in terms of shape, size and use. Dotting tool handles either of cast plastic or, if you're a bit posh some anodized aluminium metal handles. These are fitted with 'dotting tips' which are essentially spherical ball shaped tips that come in a range of sizes, from fine to course giving you a choice of dot sizes appropriate to the size of dot you would like to create in your nail art design. Dotting tools are sometimes also known as marbling tools.

Dotting Tool or Dotting Tools?

Nail Dotting tools are often available individually or in professional sets. At the cheaper end of the range dotting tools tend to have cast plastic handles and the posh models have expensive looking anodised aluminium handles that look far more professional and are typically more robust. With the price difference being so small between the two we recommend the pro aluminium models.

What Do Dotting Tools Cost?

Luckily, owning a set of Nail Art Dotting Tools is not a major expense and certainly won't brake the bank. You can typically buy them individually for around £2 each, or you can purchase a plastic set of 5 for £6, or the really fancy aluminium ones for £10.

What can you achieve with Nail Art Dotting Tools?

I use my dotting tools with a range of nail art materials, typically, acrylic nail art paints and nail polish to create dots, patterns and little flow shapes directly onto the natural nail or onto nail enhancements. I can also achieve fine results creating lines and geometric patterns. Great result can be achieved if you chose complementary colours!

More Than Just a Dotting Tool

Over the years I have used my nail dotting tools for many other little tasks. They are also very effective with nail art marbling techniques and also for picking up tiny Swarovski SS5 Nail Art Crystals and gems and placing them in just the right place, a fiddly task at the best of times.

Clean & Dry Your Beloved Nail Art Tools.

When you're finished using a nail art dotting tool as always ensure you clean and dry it ready for next time. Beware if you don't dry the cheaper dotting tools properly you may find they will rust!

Handy Nail Dotting Tool Tip

Whilst using dotting tools, we found this excellent and useful nail art brush and nail tool holder a godsend. It’s perfect for preventing your doting tools rolling off your desk when not in use and makes them much easier to pickup especially if you have longer nails yourself.

A New Trial with Green Dotting Nail Art

Hey Folks, past few days I was quite busy and it was really difficult to get time and share new nail art tutorial with my friends. Previously,  I had shared my first experience with tribal nail art but these days, there was lots of work online and offline. Today, I got some time and a new idea for DIY nail art. These days I am trying to get perfection on the nail art dotting tool. I am trying to make a different nail art design and details with these tools. So, let us start today's nail art tutorial.

Green Dotting Nail Art

Things Required:

As I always say, we should collect all required things for our nail art at a place where we are going to work on our DIY Mani. Also, clean your nails and remove old nail polish. I always suggest my readers to use olive oil for massage of your nails. It makes our nails strong and healthy.

  1. Nail polish colors: Green, yellow, pink, white and dark green.
  2. Nail dotting tool. (I have brought from ebay India).
  3. Fast drying top coat.
  4. Rhinestones.
  5. Mix glitter.

Steps for Nail Art:

Step 1: I have applied bright green nail paint for the base of my nail art. I have used FACES nail paint. It is easily available online. Apply 2 coats of the base of your nail art and let it dry.

Step 2: Now, take a medium size nail dotting tool and make dots with white color for the center of your flower.

Step 3: Now, I took a one-number smaller nail dotting tool and made some dots with pink nail polish around white dot. This is a type of nail art that you can complete even in a few days. That means you can leave your dotting nail art here by applying a top coat or continue further with me.

Step 4: In the same way, I have repeated step3 and took some different colored nail paints made few more circles of dots.

Step 5: Finally, apply a top coat and your colorful dotting nail art is complete.

Additions:

As I always do, I love to add some glitters, studs and rhinestones to my nails. So, I thought why not to give this simple dotting nail art a glittery look. I have added a few rhinestones in the mid of dot circles at the place of the white dot.

As I had not painted nail art on the ring finger nail, so I thought to add some glitters on this nail.

I hope you enjoyed my green dotting nail art. I will be back soon with my another DIY nail art :)

My First Attempt to Tribal Nail Art

Hello Folks, today I am back with a tribal nail art design. A few days ago, I was surfing internet for some new inspiration for my DIY nail art collection and found tribal nail art is quite popular these days. I have tried almost all DIY nail art techniques including dotting nail art, striping nail art, stamping and ombre nail art. So, thought to try something new.

Here I want to share my first attempt for tribal nail art and I would say the results are awesome. Anyhow, not satisfactory for me. So, let's start how to make tricky looking tribal nail art easy..!!

Things Required:

As always suggested, collect all required things at a place where you are going to try your nail art.

  1. Some colorful nail polish: pink, yellow, green, red and blue.
  2. Black nail art pen.
  3. Nail dotting tool. (I bought from ebay India)
  4. Top coat (preferably fast drying).

Steps For Tribal Nail Art:

First of all, remove old nail polish with good quality remover.

Step 1: The first step is to apply different nail polish colors for the base of your nail art. I have applied five different nail polish colors to give a trendy look. I have selected all bright colors so that my design pop out.
You can select single color for your nail art. It's all depending upon you. Let it dry before proceeding.

Step 2: Now, draw some horizontal lines with nail art pen, as shown in the photo. You can do it with your own idea as per your design.

Step 3: Next step is to make some lines, zig-zag and crosses in few lines. Take an idea from the design.

Step 4: Here is the final step. Take the nail art dotting tool. I have bought from ebay India as these tools are now available for direct selling in India. Add some dots with the nail dotting tool in the rest of the area.

Step 5: Apply fast drying top coat and lock your nail art for long lasting look.

I hope you like my colorful tribal nail art tutorial. Share it with your friends and family...:)
