Twinsie Tuesday: Red Nails for American Heart Month (Heart Disease Awareness)

Hi everyone, welcome to Tuesday.  Sorry for the cryptic introduction yesterday, I was feeling really distraught and wanted to explain why I had such a weird post.  Today we are under a winter storm watch here (again!).  I swear we've gotten more snow this year than the past few years combined.  In the middle of Illinois, we usually don't get too much snow but this year has definitely been the exception.

Today for Twinsie Tuesday the theme was red nails for American Heart Month.  I had a tough time with this prompt since red is notoriously hard to use for nail art and it's just about my least favorite polish color besides sheers.  Way to stay positive right :)  I ended up doing a simple cloud mani and I was surprised with how much I liked it.  The polishes I used were Essie Limited Addiction, the darkest of the polishes, OPI A Definite Moust-Have, the coral red in the middle, and OPI The Spy Who Loved Me, the shimmery red on the end.

I can't wait to see what these other fantastic ladies come up with.  It seems I'm not the only one who doesn't care for red ;)

Barielle Review: Mint Ice Cream Cone, Banana Drop, and Blue Cotton Candy

*Press Sample
Hi everyone, welcome to Monday.  I don't really have anything to report on a personal level.  Some family things occurred last night sending us in a tailspin, our cats got into a huge fight, and the superbowl was pretty disappointing.  On the bright side, my sister did pass her nursing boards so all the stress of that for her is finally over.  So it's a pretty weird start to the week.  It's going to be a pretty stressful next two weeks at work to get a specific project done and I'll be in the field for a few days at the end of the week.

A while back I was asked to join Barielle's blogger network and I jumped at the chance.  I got to select some polish colors to try and also some nail care items.  I'm going to give the creams and cuticle oil some time to see how they work and what I think of them, so today I'm just showing off these pretty polishes.  This was my first time trying Barielle polishes and I'll let you know what I think of each polish below.

Mint Ice Cream Cone

Let's start with my hands down winner, Mint Ice Cream Cone.  I'll be honest here, I picked this polish because of the name.  I was torn between this one and Green Apple Chew which I have been dying to try since I saw reviews of it, but the name won out for me.  This polish is a pastel yellow-leaning mint green.  When I could eat ice cream, mint was my favorite flavor and this color is exactly like melted mint ice cream.  Here's the kicker....the formula was amazing, especially for a pastel.  The formula wasn't thin, it wasn't streaky, and it applied like a dream.  I used two coats below, with topcoat.  I really did not want to take this polish off.

Banana Drop

Clearly I was thinking food when I picked out these polishes :)  Yellow is my favorite color and I had yet to find a pastel yellow that I liked so I wanted to give this one a go.  Banana Drop is a pastel yellow cream.  While it did require three coats to completely even out, it had a decent formula for a yellow.  I used thin coats, let them dry in between, and had no problems.  I really liked this color, it looked so buttery and creamy on the nail.  It didn't end up streaky or lumpy and bumpy like some yellows do.  Three coats with topcoat below.

Blue Cotton Candy

Haha, another food name!  I really enjoy that actually :)  Blue Cotton Candy is a medium dusty marine blue with silver shimmer.  I liked that the shimmer was just as apparent on the nail as it was in the bottle.  This polish was on a thicker side but it is a true one coater.  I thought the color was really unique and I haven't seen anything quite like it before.  Swatches are one coat with topcoat below.

Overall I am really impressed with my first try with Barielle polishes.  The green is seriously one of my new favorite polishes, the yellow was pretty good as far as yellows go, and I finished off with a one coater.  Obviously my favorite would be Mint Ice Cream Cone.  Which is your favorite?  This polishes can be found on Barielle's website here.

Mini Heart Mani

Hi everyone, welcome to Sunday.  Yesterday we were stuck inside because of ice but I had fun playing with polishes and working on blog stuff.  I decided yesterday to make a swatch book of all my polishes and I always find organizational stuff like that fun to do.

Today I have my first Valentine's design for this year.  To create this look I started with a base of Hard Candy Pink Taffy and then created the little hearts with a dotting tool and various colors.  Nice and simple :)

4.Asuna Yuuki (swords art online)
Tokoh perempuan dari sebuah game ini memang cukup populer dikalangan cosplayer. Sosoknya yang cantik dan menawan membuat banyak cosplayer yang tertarik untuk mencoba memerankannya.

Sebenarnya, saya ingin membuat project cosplay Rin.

Incoco Sweet Surprise Collection (+matching glitter accents)

Hi everyone, happy Saturday.  Hopefully your weekend is going well so far.  We were supposed to have a big winter storm last night but it's hard to tell the conditions outside.  It looks icy but it's hard to tell :)  We will probably be trapped inside all day!  Today I have the entire collection of Incoco nail strips to show you from the Valentine's collection.  I am a huge fan of Incoco strips.  They are really good quality, easy to apply, and wear like iron.  The Sweet Surprise collection features five love-themed designs which are all really cute.  I decided to pair each design with a matching glitter accent nail.  Let's get started.

Made With Love

A sugar spin ombre in pink and red over a white background.  Accent nail is OPI Big Apple Red with OPI Lights of Emerald City.

Love Spell

Red and pink hearts and bows on a pink background.  Accent nail is OPI Pedal Faster Suzi! and Beyond the Nail Blushing Elephant.

Yours Truly

Red script on a pink background.  Accent nail is OPI Princesses Rule! and OPI Minnie Style.

Sweet Surprise

Multicolored bar and square glitter and silver glitter on a pale pink background.  Accent nail is OPI DS Opulence and OPI Servin' Up Sparkle.

Double Date

Magenta and silver hearts.  Accent nail is Julep Winter and OPI I Snow You Love Me.

My favorites from this collection are Made with Love and Yours Truly.  These Incoco strips can be found here.  Which design is your favorite?

Twinsie "Tuesday"-Anniversary Edition

Hi everyone, happy Friday.  I am so thankful it is Friday right now.  I drove 8 hours straight yesterday for work and that always makes me so exhausted afterwards.  We are supposed to get a big winter storm, although they aren't sure when, with a bunch of snow and ice.  Fun times.  Hopefully wherever you are you are staying nice and warm :)

Today is not Tuesday, however today is a special edition of Twinsie Tuesday.  Today is the second anniversary of the beginning of Twinsie Tuesday and for today we all are taking part in a special anniversary mani.  We were paired with a Twinsie and we had to create a manicure based on their very first Twinsie Tuesday post.  I was paired with Lakeisha of Refined & Polished and her very first post was a fishtail mani in blue, silver, and yellow.  You can see this mani here.

For my mani, I wanted to use her colors, but with a different design.  My favorite thing to do is polka dots so that's what I did :)  The polishes I used were Essie Maximillian Strasse Her, Zoya Sara, and OPI This Gown Needs a Crown.

Revlon Chroma Chameleon Collection and How To: Pinterest Swap

Hi everyone, happy Thursday.  I've got a quick post today since I will be headed in the field for work.  I have a collection of five polishes from Revlon.  I got a few questions yesterday on how pinterest swapping works so if you are just interested in that, scroll all the way to the bottom of the post :)

Today I have part of the Revlon Chroma Chameleon Collection.  There are a few other colors of these polishes, but I received these from a giveaway :)  These polishes are supposed to be duochromes from what they look like in the bottle.  The formula for all of these was really sheer.  I used three coats of polish plus topcoat for each of the swatches.

Cobalt

First up, my favorite from the five, Cobalt.  Cobalt is obviously a deep but bright blue with a tiny hint of purple flash.  Three coats provided good coverage but as you can see, this polish is brushstrokey.

Topaz

Topaz is a light colored cool green with an aqua flash.  Brushstrokey again but good coverage in three coats.

Tanzanite

This polish is a medium purple with a dark purple flash.  This was one of the sheerest out of the five, you can still see visible nail line after three coats.

Aquamarine

This polish is an aqua colored polish with not much of a flash of any color.  This one covered better and was one of the least brushstrokey.

Gold

This polish is a gold green color and I assume it is supposed to be a dupe for Chanel Peridot or OPI Just Spotted the Lizard.  It doesn't live up to the nicer polishes though.  This one was pretty sheer and you can still still visible nail line after three coats, also very brushstrokey.

I wasn't too impressed with these polishes but I'm not complaining since I won them in a giveaway.  I wouldn't recommend any of these unless you see a color that you really love.

Now onto the "How To".  I briefly mentioned Pinterest swapping in my post yesterday and I got a few questions about it.  Basically pinterest swapping is a way to get rid of your brand new or slightly used polishes for someone else's polishes.  Maybe you got the polish in a giveaway and don't care for it or you received the polish as a gift or simply you bought the color, found out you didn't like the color or it didn't work on your skin tone and it's been sitting there ever since.

The first step would be to make a pinterest board with polishes you want to swap.  Here is a link to mine so you can see an example.....here.  It is usually common courtesy to say how used the polish is.  You can say "BN"-brand new, "BNNU"-brand new, never used, or say something like "swatched once", "one mani", "a few manis", something like that.  If it is more used (like it has a visible amount of polish gone), you probably want to take a picture of the bottle so people can see how much of the polish is gone.

Once you decide to swap, you can search for others boards on pinterest like "nail polish swap", "polish swap", etc.  People also do makeup swaps but that just isn't my thing.  People will say how they prefer to be contacted in the description of the board, otherwise, pinterest comments work just fine.  Keep in mind that some people are just looking to sell and not swap, but it will usually say this.

The last step to swap is contacting a person when you see a polish you like.  The easiest swaps, and the only ones I've been doing, are "swap for swap".  Meaning, you swap the same amount or value of polish, your shipping cancels each others out, and there is no exchange of money involved.  People will ask for your swap board link and let you know if they are interested.  If you agree on polishes, you can exchange addresses over email or private message on Facebook, and that's it.

In the last week or so I've swapped about 30 bottles of polish, mainly OPIs.  It's a great way to re-home polishes that don't get enough love :)  If you have any questions on this, leave me a comment and I'll be sure to respond!
